When you think about favorite breakfast treats, I’m willing to bet that doughnuts make the top three for most people. Opening tomorrow at 300 W. Magnolia Ave. is the newest place to get that doughnut fix! Parlor Doughnuts will open at 7 a.m. with their famous layered doughnuts made in small batches daily, with impressive flavor combos like French Toast, Bourbon Caramel, Turtle and Campfire(think s’mores). Saturday is FREE doughnut day (one per person), so get your free doughnut, buy a cup of coffee and take in their beautiful space.
Saad Ahmed and his partners are no strangers to entrepreneurship. Each one is involved in multiple business ventures. They have combined their resources to bring Parlor Doughnuts to Knoxville. Saad is the operating partner. Parlor Doughnuts originated in Evansville, IN, in 2019 and has since been franchised to several other states. The first of six planned locations in the Southeast is Knoxville’s downtown shop. They will also be opening one in Farragut by the Fall.
In addition to the unique doughnuts they will offer, a full coffee bar is stocked with Proper Coffee roasted in IN. Hot breakfast items like avocado toast, açai bowls, and more are also on the menu for those who aren’t in the mood for a doughnut. They also offer limited vegan, gluten-free, and keto-friendly options in their doughnuts. These options differ from the layer doughnuts and have a cake doughnut texture. Pups can also get in on the doughnut action and have their own Dog Doughnut.
Ilusha Budd is the General Manager. He was previously at the flagship Parlor Doughnuts in Evansville but has relocated to Knoxville to manage the shop and be closer to his partner, who is in university here locally. The operating hours are 7 a.m.-6 p.m., 7 days a week. There is inside seating for 50 customers, and the patio is open with additional seating.
WHIST COURT (400 W. Magnolia Ave.) UPDATE:
The Parlor Doughnuts space was formally a tire shop and was the last of several on this block to be occupied. Development company YGWI, LLC owns this building and the spaces occupied by The Local Smokey, Axel Logistics, and Double S Wine Bar. Just across the street on Gay and W. Magnolia Ave. is another Triangular J. Ventures development, Whist Court. They began renovations in October 2022, and some units are already occupied. The exterior has been painted a deep blue that blends with other color tones in the area. They are creating three studio units and adding a private, gated entrance for residents to park and enter the building that faces away from Magnolia Ave.
It’s nice to see empty spaces revamped and given new life. It will be another great weekend in Knoxville. Get downtown, check out the 2-day Rossini Festival, and get your free Parlor doughnut(Saturday only). Tell them we sent you!
