Ringing in 2026: Downtown Knoxville’s NYE Celebrations

It’s been a long December and there’s reason to believe maybe this year will be better than the last. 2023 NYE at the Sunsphere, photo courtesy of Downtown Knoxville Alliance

I love New Year’s Eve. The bad bubbly, the sparkles, the stupid hats, and most of all that hopeful feeling wherein tomorrow morning we get to wake up to the illusion of a fresh new start, even if we’re hungover and the Gregorian calendar is [insert philosophical monologue about manmade constructs here]. Who cares. I’m ready for 2026.

How do you want to ring in the New Year? At home in bed, consciousness sold separately, is a perfectly acceptable answer. So is a house party, a midnight mountain bike ride, an act of community service, lighting stuff that just doesn’t serve you anymore on fire in the backyard, or a romantic dinner for one or more at home. Wherever you find yourself, I hope it’s where you want to be, and that you’ll take a moment to reflect on the year that was and set a few intentions (the less stiff, judgy cousin of “resolutions”) for the year ahead.

If you’re heading downtown or the vicinity, there’s plenty going on, and it’s very much a choose-your-own-adventure situation. Here’s a roundup of what’s happening — basically Scott’s 10-Day Planner with a little more detail so you barely need to lift a finger Googling. P.S. I’ve not included anything that is already sold-out. Feel free to email me at [email protected] for corrections or additions. I’ll update as I go. There’s also an interactive map of all venues listed at the bottom of the page for your convenience.
