It’s been about five months since I told you about a series of “Secret Shows” sponsored by the Knoxville Music Warehouse. The idea, Kent Oglesby and Garrett Thomson told me at the time is that you buy your ticket knowing the artist, but not the venue. The day before the show an email informs you where to show up. The venues are always near downtown and places you wouldn’t necessarily associate with live music. The first show featured Joseph LeMay at Saw Works Brewing Company.

That and the two subsequent shows sold out and a fourth, featuring Jenny and Tyler and Jillian Edwards will be presented next Friday night (10/23). Of course, where that show will happen is a secret. I think tickets may still be available for that one. They currently cost $12, but the price rises to $15 on Monday.

The November show will be the final show in the series for this season and they’ve added a new twist: The show will feature three bands and three different secret locations. They’ve built enough trust with their audience that the “early bird” tickets have sold out at $15 – before an artist was named. Three days ago they announced that Alabama artist Firekid would be a part of the lineup.

Today I’m announcing that the second artist to be revealed is Nashville recording artist Humming House. Here’s what I had to say about them after hearing them at Rhythm n’ Blooms, “High energy fun, great harmonies, twin lead vocals and a melding of various roots traditions makes their shows great fun. Even the tired concert goers couldn’t help but respond. They have a new CD, “Revelries,” which spotlights the band at their exuberant best with lots of counter-vocal call-and-response, and Celtic and country influences.”

The photographs included with this article are from that show. I was only able to use a couple at the time, so this is the first time most of these have been seen. The band is fun to watch, great to listen to and they provide an excellent concert experience.

Tickets are still available for $25 and ticket holders will be notified of the location for the first venue the day before the show. After hearing an artist in that location Knox Brew Tour buses will transport patrons to the next show. Food will be provided by Tailgating For a Cause. After the third show (artist to be announced), the buses will return patrons to their cars. The night will be fun and the music will be great. An additional artist will be announced in coming days on the Knoxville Music Warehouse site.

One final note: Congratulations to Jon Livengood who will attend the Mandolin Orange concert tonight at the Bijou with free tickets he won right here! Watch for more giveaways.
